I have the honour to inform you that the Jubilee Committee have given your letter of the 7th December last the fullest consideration. They regret to say that they find themselves unable to accede to the suggestion as to the new road conveyed in His Excellency Major-General Black's letter of the 2nd December last.

They are Trustees of the monies raised for the purpose of constructing "the first section of the carriage road from Kennedy Town to Aberdeen" and this road the Government undertook, with the approbation of the Secretary of State for the Colonies and without objection on the part of the Military Authorities, "to commence forthwith and to carry on the remaining portion of the road until completed".

The Committee earnestly hope that the promise of the Government will be kept and the work commenced at once.
